Aerosoft Airbus A318/19 – Review!

1

The folks at Aerosoft were kind enough to send over a copy of their Airbus A318/19 for a review. Let’s go ahead and crack on!

Aerosoft are renowned for creating amazing and really highly detailed commercial airliners; mostly airbuses. The Airbus A318/19 is no exception. Being the the two smallest aircraft in Airbuses fleet it is very well modeled and is clearly significantly smaller than the others in the fleet. The introduction of the Airbus A318 back in 2003 was a great thing for the budget airlines. They could replace all of the ancient planes for this.

Handling

After flying around Aerosoft’s new Tromso x Scenery for a couple of hours and then doing some hops across Europe. I can say that the handling of this aircraft is aircraft is excellent. I have previously flown the Airbus x extended package from Aerosoft and the handling of the airbus A318/19 definitely feels faster and more responsive quite apparent characteristics that a lighter aircraft should have. The fly by wire that it implemented into he airbuses is simulated very accurately. You can actually leave it at climb attitude and even in strong winds and when out of trim will try and maintain that attitude. One thing I did notice was that when you decrease the speed back to stall. The stall avoidance system is not very effective, it makes a feeble attempt at lowing the attitude of the aircraft.

Interior

The interior modeling of the Airbus A318/18 is beautiful. The lighting of the cockpit can be adjusted and looks stunning in low light. On most of Aerosoft’s products nowadays they have a little view changer button on the side of the simulator. This is the most useful thing in the world and allows you to easily change the view in the aircraft. I mostly used this to change from the Virual cockpit to a zoomed in view of the CDU. The cockpit has been modeled to perfection, the gauges are high quality and the lighting inside the cockpit is good. Aerosoft’s attention to detail is on par with PMDG maybe even better. Like most addons they have a camera view of the wing. What I would have liked to see is the window included in one of the view. This would add more realism to the view of the wing.

Exterior

The exterior of this aircraft it really good. It appears that when you get a new addon the placebo effect comes and tell you that it looks better than the addon you had before. Addons have reached a point where the exterior modeling really can’t get much better. Generally a really nice exterior. Take a look at the screenshot! There has been no editing at all done to this. It is simply stunning!

Side

Simulation

Unlike PMDG; Aerosoft are good at creating addons that don’t murder your system! This addon didn’t slow my system down at all. Infact there wasn’t really a significant frame drop. The installation is simple and quick and the file size isn’t to big. For those who are serious about Airbus then this is the place to go.

Overall

Overall I think that this is a great addition to the Aerosoft library of great addons. It has definitely lived up to expectations and is definitely worth purchasing. For those who love flight sim and Airbus. Then Aerosoft is definitely the place to go for high quality version of Airbuses. The quality of simulation is stunning and is certainly on par with PMDG.

It would be great to know what version of sim this is on… or even if it is P3D or FSX, X-Plane …….. ???
Just the basics of article writing.
