Dovetail Cancel Flight School!

Dovetail have today made the surprise announcement that they will no longer be selling or developing their Flight School Simulator

In a post to their Facebook page they wrote: “Our goals with Flight School were twofold: to create an entry level sim for people new to the hobby and to implement technical functionality to build upon in the future.

We will retain the ethos of introducing beginners to the hobby, but without compromising the depth and complexity demanded by more experienced flyers by implementing a much clearer curve to mastery in our upcoming sim.

With this in mind, we have made the decision to retire Flight School. The sim and all of your saved data will remain in your Steam library, however it will no longer be available for purchase.

We will have more announcements about our upcoming sim in the following weeks as well as something special for existing Flight School owners to thank you for your continuous support and feedback.”

They sold 26,370 copies of the games which may have been below what they expected, we may never know why they dropped the title.

Me thinks they took the safe way out.. cut their losses beeecause..
The memory of Microsoft, and their foray into a dumbed-down flight simulator
in only recent years, seems to be the catalyst, in my opinion.
The fans were pretty scathing and did not give Microsoft quarter about their attempt
to bring newly interested one into flight simulation by way of pay-to-play.
And not only that, their new simulator was a lame shadow of MSFS overall.
I think Dovetail did the safe (and correct) thing. Nip it now or find yourself backed
into the corner by a few thousand rabid fans..
