FSFX Packages had a server outage in the early hours of this morning, they’ve released a statement regarding the issue and also added a preview of the highly anticipated Community feature to Chaseplane.
In a statement posted on their website, FSFX Packages wrote: “This morning at around 4:36 am our server experienced a malfunction that prevented ChasePlane, VFXCentral and website requests from accessing our server. Our server hosts worked around the clock to bring the server back online and tried to contact us about the issue. The server went back online at 9:53 am this morning after a 5h17s downtime.”
We understating the frustration of the many users trying to access ChasePlane, VFXCentral and our website this morning and we deeply apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused. When it comes to ChasePlane, it is important to remind everyone that it is currently in Alpha stage and that issues of this kind are to be expected.
Our current server infrastructure designed to carry products like our Immersion Packages and PrecipitFX. Following the success ChasePlane’s Alpha Program in the past few months, we took the decision to start the work on a new server infrastructure to better handle server load and to increase redundancy and latency to enhance update speeds and to prevent events like the one we observed today. We plan the transition to this new infrastructure in April.
To ensure the stability of ChasePlane and our infrastructure, we will be pushing the release of Alpha 2 (originally planned early next week) until we are satisfied with the server infrastructure put in place in April. We heard everyone’s feedback and we will be providing an offline solution for ChasePlane before the official v1 release later this year.”
On a final note, we wouldn’t delay Alpha 2 without giving you at least a preview of the community:
