Dovetail games have seemed reluctant to release any information on when the release of FSX on Steam is going to happen; however this has now changed.
The publisher has now said that they are working to get the game released before Christmas. They are working hard to get the game fully transferred onto the platform.
This is going to be a big step forward for FSX because it hasn’t seen any change for the past 5 years even though the product was terminated by microsoft in the December of 2012. The product line goes all the way back to 1982 when the Flight Simulator development team was setup.
Adding this product to Steam should create a big boost for the age old game, in addition to conveniently having the product on your steam library, it will manage the updates for the product so you don’t have to worry about out of date software.
The subject of addons has been a difficult one for Dovetail because, in a statement they said that they couldn’t guarantee that the existing addons for the game would work. They did however say that some companies had contacted them to say that they would be producing patches for there addons. Because lets face it. You probably wouldn’t by it if you couldnt put your $200+ collection of addons on it.
